Question Cannot modify web part view in PWA

I am our company SharePoint admin and was asked to assist with a PWA question.

Apparently what they are trying to do is set up a "dashboard" in PWA to display views of the project List (Project Center). The views are already created and available in the View drop-down from within PWA Project Center.

To give management this dashboard they have requested, her idea was to use web parts to feature a few Views of the Project Center in one isolated page vs. requiring them to dig into PWA, find the Project Center, and sort through the views.

I created a Site Pages document library in PWA and then blank Web Part page called "dashboard", then added a web part displaying the Project Center. It appeared, showing the default view of the data. I thought I would be able to repeat this process and select a different view in each web part to enable the "dashboard effect" requested.

I thought this would be possible because in "normal" SharePoint, if you don't want to use the default or current view of the item displayed in your web part, you click "modify shared web part" and you can edit/alter the view to show you the view you want. You can manually change the existing view or you can choose from the drop-down of previously configured views.

To my surprise, there was no option to choose "modify shared web part" . It was impossible to alter the displayed view or choose another view from those that had been previously set up.

I am now stumped- is what I want to do impossible? I told them that the high complexity of Project Center as a dataset may mean the flexibility normally available in web parts is not possible, but wanted to see if I could find out more.
