The security for my SharePoint (WSS) project sites is showing an error. I need to get this fixed so people can access the workspace. Below is the error description:

Hi,

I also have this problem as I removed some fields from the issues list and then found that I got WSS list sync failures and also project check in and out errors.

I've read the blog and understand how to avoid this in the future but my question is, how can I solve the current issues without having to recreate the whole project workspace and lose all the version history etc. that is held within there - can I reapply the default list template to the issues list to solve the problem? I've tried manually recreating the missing fields and it doesn't seem to work.

I have discovered the same issue and have logged this directly with Microsoft as a bug. They have conducted the same tests within our environment and discovered this to be a bug and have released a fix to this in their Feb 2009 Cumulative Update which has been released.
I can confirm that we have installed this update and this has resolved this issue in our environment.
