Default Cube building in Project Server Standalone

Hello,
this is my first post, hope you can help me ( and I can help others! )
I'm trying to configure cube building in a single project server 2007 instalation that includes SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I think that version of SQL Server doesn't include the Analysis Services, so I can't configure cube building.
I've tried to install several service packs, followed all the guides and installed several featured tools, but the Analysis Services aren't available anyway.

Is it possible to configure cube building for the standalone version, or I have to install a separate SQL Server 2005 "full equipe" with a new license?

Thanks in advantage, and sorry for my english!

akae,

Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition does not include Analysis Services, which is required in order for you to set up cube building.

Microsoft has published a guide to upgrading here. Essentially, you should be able to do an in-place upgrade to Standard Edition, which would allow you to install SSAS.

Hope that helps!

Default upgrading

I haven't upgraded yet, we don't have a SQL Standard License! This kind of issues should be warned before buying the MOPS License...
I'm very dissapointed with this product. Nothing works in the just-installed software, a lot of upgrades are needed and MS doesn't provide any kind of useful help.
What would I do if there weren't places like this forum?

I wouldn't say that "nothing" works, but I agree that there are some issues with the product's RTM version. Microsoft could certainly have done better with communicating some things, as you've found with the "stand-alone" install.

However, don't lose faith. Even though it has some issues, this product is a significant step forward from 2003. Microsoft is working extremely hard to resolve the issues in the product, along with working on P14 -- which looks like it will have some truly amazing advancements.

Default solved

I performed a new complete setup of the server in a Parallels virtual Machine: w2003, SQL Server STANDARD edition (180 day trial version) and MOPS.
I followed this Spanish howto to configure Cube Building and everything works fine.
You were right, Cube building is impossible without a full licensed SQL Server (and I think MS should warn it).
Thanks!
