Default Email notifications

Hi,

I am trying to set up the email notification so a user gets an email telling them a new task has been assigned to them.

Logging in as the user, I go to personal settings, manage my alerts / reminders and I check off "Alert me immediately when I receive a new task assignment in my projects" or "My project tasks are modified". However, when a PM assigns a new task to that user, they do not get any emails. I've checked the obvious (email address is correct), but I don't know whats wrong?

Have you set up the Notifications in Server Settings? This is seperate from the Alert settings in Central Administration...
