Default Views and Tables duplicates after modifying Global Enterprise

HI Gurus,

I customized the Global Enterprise adding a new view (Table+Filter). After saving this view and opening Project Pro I am now receiving two dialog box, one stating "There is a view named &Gantt Chart in this project which cannot be overwritten. Press OK to rename it or press cancell to cancel opening the project", and the second one "There is a table named &Entry which cannot be overwritten. Press OK to rename it or press cancell to cancel opening the project". I renamed both objects and went to the Organizer; obviously there is the Gantt Chart view, The Entry table and the recently renamed objects. I can't delete the new objects.

I don't want to rename any objects and just want to restore the functionality as it was before mofifying the Global Enterprise

Thanks

Mauricio,

You need to check out the Enterprise Global. Make sure that you are not currently in a view that you want to delete, or in a view that is using a table that you want to delete. Now, open into the Organizer. Next, click on the View tab. Make sure that "Checked-out Enterprise Global" is selected in the "Views Available In" drop-down on the right side of the dialog. Click the "Gantt Chart" view and click Delete. This will delete this extraneous view from the Enterprise Global. Now, just repeat those steps for the Entry table.

What you are seeing is colloquially referred to as "Polluting the Global". If you open views that do not exist in the Enterprise Global while you have it checked-out, Project will copy over the appropriate view and its table. You can avoid this by always checking the global for pollution prior to checking it back in.

HTH!
Steve
