Having trouble entering project details in PPS

I am new to PPS and have successfully installed PPS with underlying SQL Server 2005. I have created an organization heirarchy with 4 levels and am now trying to add apications belonging to a particular level in the org heirarchy. I use the add entity form and enter all the details. I do not enter any retirement date whcih gets calculated based on estimated lifespan. I have not linked to any portfolio so I assume it takes default portfolio. I am getting teh error that "retirement date has to be less than portfolio end date (3/3/2010" (basically today's date) . Where can i modify portfolio end date so that I can save application?
