Welcome to the new EPMFAQ forums!

Some of you may ask why we have created a forum for the discussion of Project, Project Server, and Project Development when Microsoft already has several newsgroups for these purposes.

First, let me be absolutely clear: we are not looking to replace Microsoft's newsgroups -- rather, we are looking to supplement them. The newsgroups remain a valuable resource and we strongly recommend that you cross-post any technical questions you post on our forums to the newsgroups as well.

The reason we created the forums is, quite simply, because no such forum exists outside the newsgroups -- while there are a number of SharePoint forums on the Internet, the same is not true of the Project suite. It my personal belief that the Project suite is as (if not more) important to modern business than SharePoint, and my goal in creating the forums (and indeed, EPMFAQ in general) is to raise awareness of the platform, provide support to the community, and facilitate discussion both inside the existing community and with those outside of it.

We also have several other reasons, namely to:

1. Promote a more fluid discussion on EPMFAQ posts than Post Comments are capable of facilitating
2. Provide an opportunity for members of the EPM Community to network outside of MPA or the newsgroups
3. Create an environment where everyone can feel comfortable discussing EPM -- newsgroups can be intimidating to some people
4. Enable discussion of potential defects, feature requests, and the future of Microsoft's EPM platform
5. Facilitate job and resume postings for EPM professionals
