I've seen this error before, but never been able to figure out where it's coming from (I had other problems I was working on, this was a relatively minor issue).
You can try throwing NetMon onto the server and capturing packets... that'll help you figure out where the request is coming from.
I'll continue researching and let you know if I find anything.
